URC history

Post by 62xracer » Sat Dec 20, 2014 5:03 pm

I have been asked to serve as a historian for the newly re-formed United Racing Club. This seems like a very knowledgeable group on here, so I'll jump in from time to time looking for some answers. The URC archives disappeared when it became the Company, so I'll be piecing information together from a variety of sources. Thank you.

There were two books written by Buzz Rose called Tow Money Vol. 1 & Vol. 2. which covered URC history. I think you could still get them from Coastal 181 or Amazon. I also think they have copies at EMMR at Latimore Valley.

If the "company" threw the URC records away instead of donating them to EMMR,they got exactly what they deserve.....

Rick, contact me, I several research sources that can help you. I know we - as in EMMR - can help you put it all together. I have a large data base and I can help you put it all together. My email address is on top of my column in AARN. If not contact the paper and they will give you my telephone number.

I really hope they did not throw out all that history but it sounds that way. That is a sin! I know of that happening at a track. A new promoter came in and threw out all the track records and that is so much history gone forever.

I know it's been almost a year now. I was just wondering if anyone ever found the OLD URC records and history they were looking for. I have not been on here much and have no heard if they found it or not. I sure hope it has turned up or someone else has it saved somewhere. It's really sad that Someone would just throw away information like that for no reason. That information has so much meaning to so many people. Thanks to everyone that has been putting the effort in, and hard work trying to recover all that lost stuff. If anyone knows if they found the stuff, please reply to this message. Thanks to all
Jeff
