According to a poll conducted by SI and based on responses by NHL players, the best hockey player is:

1) Ovechkin 51%
2) Lidstrom 11%
3) Malkin 7%
4) Datsyuk 7%
5) Iginla 5%
6) Zetterberg 5%

Crosby 1.9%

Just think what Ovechkin would do if he had a supporting cast like Malkin and Crosby have! This poll just reaffirmed what I've said for two years . . . Malkin is a better player than Crosby!!

Gino is definately a GREAT player :thumbright:

You can tell this is a biased poll anyway with Crosby coming in at 1.9%... he may not be liked but he's certainly better than that.

DITTO on that!

WOW Really....Really :coolshades:

You are kidding right :cwm4: ...Good one.. :cwm4:

You can say what you want about either player. Crosby's a cry baby, Ovechkin's a puck hog. But to say Ovechkin doesn't have a supporting cast is RIDICULOUS. Ovechkin wouldn't use them anyway.

Just for the Poll: I'll take Crosby.

Really Sid Really

Wasn't that cool watching Ovechkin get his picture taken with the Eastern Conference Championship Trophy. No wait a minute, that was the 1.9% guy :cwm4:

Okie dokie ladies and gents. I am going to continue the forum's Probability and Statistics Math lesson.

Compliments of ESPN, you will note each players statistics. All very impressive. On a side note, 2 of the 3 players are going to be playing for the Cup again this year. This statistic does not show up in any particular category, but can go without saying, however, that is a staggering 66.666666666666666666666666666666666% of the players that are being debated.

Please note the career shots on goal category-

Ovechkin- 1791
Crosby- 939
Malkin- 804
Crosby and Malkin- 1743

Hmmmm thats odd....who would have ever thought that Ovechkin would outshoot not only the thrid player in the world, but also the sixth best player in the world.

Also, the career shooting percentages-

Ovechforeskin- 12.2
Crosby- 14.1
Malkin- 14.3

Considering the "Great 8" shoots 75% of Washington's shots. I will take the combined 28.4% that come out of the Penguins centers, even though they are 'set-up' men.

Assists-
Ovechturd- 54
Crosby- 70
Malkin- 78

One can assume that the majority of Ovechkin's assists came off of rebounds from his wing position and 35 ft slap shots. Whereas, the Alpha play a team game and distribute the puck on purpose.

Teeth
Ovechkin 31
Crosby 32.75
Malkin 32

Stupid Post Goal Celebrations
Ovechkin Plenty
Crosby none
Malkin 2

Using the above statistics times the co-sin(pi) of Lord Stanley's Cup, one can easily derive at the conclusion that the Pittsburgh Penguins are still playing. Conversely, the team from Washington, known as the Capitals are basking in another offseason of bocce ball and badmiton filled pool parties.

Contrary to my opinion, one should also take into account the quality of opponents. While the Thrashers, Lightning, and Panthers are long standing juggernauts in the NHL, I would venture out on a limb and say that the Flyers, Devils, and Rangers are a more quality schedule where wins are earned.

Comparison of the 3 is like comparing apples to the first upright walking being, known simply as homo ovechkinus.

Ovechkin was playing in the MASN scramble today in Bethesda, MD. His team shot a -3, but if he would have had a "supporting cast" they would've shot -52. That's right Pine, if Ovechkin had a "supporting cast" he would have a hole-in-one on every hole.

His driver was custom-carved from a Brontosaurus' vertebrate.

:cwm4: ...Good stuff... :cwm4:

Two plays in last night's game showed the difference between the game's of "The Neanderthal Puck Hog" and "Kid Sid". The touch pass from Crosby across the crease to Guerin <(SP?) for a goal. And at the end of the game, going in two on one and passing across to Adam's for an OPEN NET goal. You know Ovechkin would have shot on both plays, had two goals (MAYBE) and Crosby just ended up with two selfless assist.

Just for the record, I'm not jumping on the Pen's bandwagon. I picked them at the beginning of the playoffs to be in the finals. And they opened with my beloved Fly Boyz'. My pick in the West was the Canuckleheads. BUT, at the BEGINNING of the year, I picked the Blackhawks to have a good year and they knocked off the Canucks.........SOOOOOOOOOOO......

D-Pak, you can't root for Detroit can ya  ....... :dontknow:

Ross, I don't know when that bet was made. If it was made PRE trade deadline, I think it was a GOOD bet. POST deadline, NOT so good. When they picked up Guerin, Kunitz and got Gonchar back for the stretch run, I knew the Flyers were in trouble. Until then, I thought the Flyers were looking good to come out of the East.

Thats what sports is all about...TALKING SMACK ...This year its your turn. As a Flyer fan, hopefully next year will be Draks.....

Gino's tough that's for sure.

Good Luck to your Pens...

Qman, got your PM. Call ya in alittle while :thumbleft:

The wager in question, Piney my friend, was in fact made before the trade deadline when the Pens looked like an 11th grade catholic school bunch of pimple faced children trying to play ice hawkey. I too thought it was a good wager. On another note Piney my friend...........that'll be enough with the well wishes for the Pens!! :thehand:

Ramthorn, as I recall...........the wager required the Non-Flying Ice Birds Hawkey Club (with their gay sweaters) to WIN the Cup, not return..........but I'll get yur freakin' case of ghetto sludge beer..............and I'll drink half of it with you.

A final note ...............you really need to get some help with this man crush on Malkin Ross. We're all beginning to worry about you.

I don't think it qualifies as a man crush since I've only watched 1 playoff game with my pants off.
