Pak...trying to handicap this matchup. Tell me if I have this right and if anything I missed:

Starting pitching -= edge to NY....Sabaithia is dominating....Pettite is in playoff form.
Bullpen - edge to NY......
Offense - slight edge to Philly.
Power - I dunno...this is close
Manager - edge to philly
intangibles - philly

My lean is on NY in a full 7 games because the starting pitching is slightly better and the belief that Lidge will eventually blow a game somewhere. I think there will be plenty of runs in this series as both teams are pounding the ball around. I think the NY will get to Pedro because his fastball has lost some juice and they have faced him many times. The absolute key for the Phillies is Cole Hamels. If you lose game 1, which could happen against Sabaithia, Hamels must come up big in game 2.

HUGE edge in pitching in both the starters and the pen for the Yanks. I basically agree with all your other conclusions. I read today that the Yanks are 2 to 1 favorites, and I think that's accurate, I also think that plays to the Phils hands as far as motivation. It should be a good series. I'm waiting for the odds to go up a bit once all the New Yorkers lay their bets down, and then I'll put a dime or two on it.

I'll defer this question to LEFTY.
Besides Posada and Jeter pre 2005, how many times has this Yank's line-up faced Pedro Martinez of the New York Mets?

Phils in 6, book it!

A-Rod was in the AL facing Pedro while he was with the Sox from '98 through '04 and Damon obviously saw Pedro every time he pitched while he was with Boston.

Jeter, Posada and A-Rod are the only players with significant experience against Pedro during his time in Boston. Even so, a lot changes in 5 years. As far as his time with the Mets, the Yankees played & torched him once in 2008, but he was 1-0 with two ND in '05-'06 allowing only 3 runs in 22 innings of interleague play. That would be 4 games total while with the Mets.

I am not in love with the idea of Pedro pitching in NY with that seriously short porch, but Chalie seems to be pushing the right buttons this year. I would like to see Happ toss in game 2 and let Pedro and Diva Hamels toss in Philly.
