WTF? flyers rangers? I'd rather see B's Rangers... there's more of a rivalry there... it shoulda been isles flyers... oh well, i'll stick to the heritage classic... at least canadian teams play in that...

Isles? Seriously? They can't even get half of their own building filled. Nothing wrong with Flyers/Rangers except that it should take place in NYC.

Filling half the decrepit Nassau Coliseium is a challenge for the Isle's front office... Given that it's the smallest NHL arena (little over 16k seats) they're forced to have higher than average ticket prices to make up for it... that's why they don't fill the seats... I'll be looking forward to the Heritage... maybe it'll be a central canada showdown, the new Winnipeg Jets v. Edmonton... now that'd be one to watch

Highly unlikely as Paterno won't even let a concert on that field... it's sacred ground...

Why would the NHL do anything to benefit State College, PA.

because PSU's building a new ice hockey arena, and trying to get a minor league franchise in... supposedly the owner of the Sabres is looking at buying the Rochester Americans for a possible re-location to State College. Not only that, but with Winnipeg getting an NHL franchise back, it leaves the Manitoba Moose to 2 areas for sure... Thunder Bay Ontario, or St. John's... if PSU and SC can get the rink built in time, their name might be thrown in the hat for an AHL franchise also...

The NHL will not play their biggest showcase regular season game of the year in a non-NHL "city". There's too much money to be had by the host franchise's city. You're crazy if you believe otherwise.
