LOL, come on now you know its all has to do with the coach. HAHA.

Of course every system like that is going to have flaws kinda like the draft process.

The whole game of college football is based on recruiting and then once you get the kids teaching them up. If you can't recruit, you are dead in the water to start.

Yeah, no ****. Those star ratings don't mean a thing. It is just a coincidence that Alabama's and USC's of the world get a bunch of 4* and 5*'s and then are soo successful.

When it comes down to it the long term affects of this years problems will depend on what the new coaching staff manages to accomplish with the current team because most of next years starters are already there. Some of those 3's will exceed expectations just as some 5's won't live up to their's. If they have a good season next year the recruiting will go much better, if they have a bad year next year then there will be a long term problem.

It's a shame that PSU lost it's highest rated recruits to Urban and Cheater State but I still like the class the Lions got. There looks to be some potential there. I think next year will be better since O'Brien will have time to recruit. They had a lot going against them this year with the fallout from the Sandusky scandal, new coach who wasn't signed until way late and then his team is in the SB so he has very little time, plus Urban stealing recruits. Success on the field this year would be the best recruiting tool. I'm looking forward to some new excitement in the pasing game. PSU's offense was painful to watch the last few years.

With all due respect, changing the uniforms is a terrible idea. That whole identity of "Plain shoes, all game" is maybe the most important part of what made Penn State football unique. Plus, it would show that the administration isn't simply breaking off totally with the past but maintaining the traditions that made the team strong.

Also, Ted Roof was very mediocre at Auburn. Their offense carried them.

Yes, they were the most important part of what made Penn State football unique (boring), NOT what made Penn State football mediocre... at best.

Trandition does not = winning :naughty:

They have one of the coolest logos in sports. It's on all the coaches and fans clothing. I don't see it as a crime to put it somewhere on the uniform. Even putting it on the jeresy where Florida has the gator logo would look great yet not so splashy as to ruin tradition. They did have #'s on their helmets like Alabama at one time. That was a good move to ditch that.

O'Brien is off to a great start in recruitng. I read another article where a recruiting expert said that PSU is being mentioned everywhere and that hasn't happened in a long time.

Doesn't Nike supply all uniforms and coaching apparel as a "donation"? I thought they have for several years, after PSU left Russell Athletics.

Of course they are donated. Nike recoups that in a day though when the PSU faithful are raped at the sales counter for the replica jerseys that get shipped in from Viet-nam.

I think thats what Hoosier called it when they gave all of the big name teams tires years back. A donation. :laughing7:
