Guthrie, in his third and final year of arbitration, submitted a salary of $10.25 million, and the Orioles countered with $7.25 million. Guthrie, 32, was 9-17 with a 4.33 ERA in 34 games last year. He made $5.75 million.
So, you are supposed to be the #1 man on the pitching staff, you have another losing year (almost twice as many losses as wins), and you want to almost double your salary. The Orioles should be offering 3-4 million. What a joke. They could get any farmboy to put out the same numbers.
