yea, what he said, :yessss: i've been wanting to post something, but, skeered of jinxing them.i'd be quite happy to finish over .500,anything else would be gravy. i sure hope they don't gut the team,as they have done in past seasons.regardless it's been a good summer to be a Pirates fan, thus far. :carrot:

If you think they are going to "gut" the team, you haven't been watching the last couple years.

They have the arms in my opinion, just need a bat for a 2nd half run.

Correia and Bedard need to step it up.

i've been watching them quite closely since 01,and have seen some stupid trades, for prospects, Bautista is one of the latest.Lincoln will prolly go,Bedard should go,imo,as well as Barmes.

The GREAT news is that they signed McCutchen to a 6 year/ 52 million deal before this season. That is a steal for a player of his caliber. He's the league MVP so far. They also have a lot of young talent in the system since they started drafting the best talent instead who they could sign cheap. The success they're having now is just the tip of the iceberg IMO.

I do think they have enough to stay in the division penant race along with the reds and cardinals this year. If they can make the playoffs, anything coud happen. Look at the cardinals last year and the giants the year before, made it in by the skin of their teeth and wound up winning it all. The huge surge in offense over the last month has definitely been a surprise. I still think the pirates are a long shot but I think they will at least break .500 with ease.

I have actually approved of more trades than disapproved. They got rid of a lot of dead weight that was carrying a high salaries. In most cases, when these players left, they didn't perform very well.

The Bautista trade is the exception but I don't think anyone saw that coming. He was given countless chances to earn a starting spot with the pirates before they gave up on him. Bay had one good year in Boston and I don't know what ever happened to Nady. Unfortunately the prospects the bucs got in return have been busts, Tabata is still a question mark but hasn't been able to stick in the starting lineup yet. The trade to get Burnett was brilliant, basically give up nothing and have the yankees still pay the majority of his salary to take him off their hands. AJ's always had good stuff but a bit of a head case. I think the pressure of playing for the yanks was too much for him. Go Bucs!

Hanrahan for Nyger Morgan ---home run

Charlie Morton, Tabata for Nate McClouth (think this is right)

Yes, they let Freddie Sanchez go but you can't pay a .280 hitting 2nd basemen his kind of money in the Pirates market.

Andy(???Adam) Larouche was an overpaid underhitting first basemen.

Adam Laroche is having a good year for the Nats last I saw but he did nothing but strikeout for the Bucs. His nickname was K-Roche. I think the bucs traded Mclouth to Atl for him so that was pretty much a wash.

Andy Laroche(3B) they got in a trade from LA and was a complete bust.

The Phighten Phils are making it interesting. Gotta love a team that fights hard to the end, unlike my Buccos who pack it up when August rolls around. :ahhh:
