USAC Sprints @ Grandview

Post by 54warrior » Wed Jun 04, 2008 12:28 am

Visited Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA earlier tonight for their USAC Wingless Sprint Car show. Unfortunately, it downpoured just before the feature was to start, but the show to that point was pretty freaking awesome!! Also racing were the ARDC Midgets (also wingless)...those little cars looked like alot of fun!

* Nice Facility
* Well Run Show, things moved along really well, they did their best to squeeze things in before the rain, but it just didn't happen.
* Excellent Concessions
* Lots of Seating

The only other thing that I've noticed out here in Eastern PA, is that the tracks let you get much much closer to the track than they do back 'home' in western PA. It's like you're sitting right there on the wall.

Anyhow, enough BS...here are my pit photos, taken with my cheapo $80 camera from RadioShack...

never been to grandview but those bleachers in the turn look awful close to the wall. as far as sprint cars can fly if one went over or thru that catch fence.....whoa nellie!
My OPINIONS are just that and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of anyone or any track I am associated with!

The fence holds up pretty well as was demonstrated by J.R. Berry in that very same location last night. :shock:

Love G-View cuz you feel like your sitting right on top of the track/cars...............kinda like the old, much better, Port grandstands. Never saw a car get through the fence there. Sean Keen tried pretty hard to do it in turn 1 one night long ago, but Gregg is right, the fence is stout.
