That's another car that has a real nice paint scheme.

Another excellent shot there Tony! :thumbright: :cheers2: :thumbright:

Hmm you always get nice focus yet get wheel spin with flash?
I'm not sure how you achieve this? Most of us don't get much wheel spin with full
Flash at night. Hats off to you!! Not sure if this is accidental or pure genius?

Scott,

No Genius here :thumbright:

I get lots of Frozen in place at night shots, too.

Exif 5.6 1/250- ISO 400 Flash-Metz CT-4. Canon 50D Sigma 50-150 2.8 lens. Focal length 95MM(152 MM in 35 MM).

I no longer have the Metz.

Another thing, paradoxically,I love clean race cars at Speed on a dirt track.

Also Thanks,Rod! :thumbleft:

Tony's got some skills!!! :camera:

I think that car loves to be photographed for some reason! I don't know if its that particular color but there is something that makes photos of it really pop!

Ha Ha Rod-no gimmicks here on the blur :thumbright:

Zepp-you are right my lens and camera really lock onto that car. Some color and graphics combos lock on better than others. There are some cars that no matter what I try,or how many shots I take of them, they still come out looking like mush....

There is a lot of vertical contrast on that sprint. This allows faster and closer focus for the lens which results in better images more often. If you go through your images, you will find that you generally have more quality inages of some cars and just a few of others. All of this happens without consciously taking more images of one over the other.

Tony knows how to get the most out of his equipment which results in the type of images he posts. The night shots with a nice blur are more difficult since flash duration becomes a major factor. Actually, the density of the air on any given night also impacts the success rate of capturing images like this. And that is one factor you can't control.

Blurring the wheels in post is a pretty simple task, but you need to look closer here. The entire background maintains the blur seen in the wheels. Taking a couple of minutes to blur wheels is a whole lot different than taking the time to edit an entire image just to post it online.

Nice stuff Tony (as usual).

Thank Joe,

You explained it very well :thumbleft:

Some nights are one home run after another while some nights are nothing but strike outs. Give me a nice tacky track and fast race cars not hugging the bottom to shoot. :thumbleft:

Also owners, you can keep those all black wings,I hate them  Got to have graphics along the top edge to make em look best at night. Also, stuff that glow in the dark junk.

On my Canon 580 EX II it automatically ends up making the rest of the car about 3 stops too dark if you don`t cover the flash sensor while taking the shot with that reflective crap on the car.
