In daylight and before I walked back to my bag to grab the flash, I really liked it.....

Image
and then under the light with the flash...no so much!

YEAH YEAH YEAH, I know someone will say "No flash needed  " (h0rde- I promise to try it); but for the rest of guys PLEASE ditch the stinking reflective numbers and stickers! Even those little Valley Forge stickers on the URC cars can kill a shot. Just one guy's opinion- your results will vary! Thanks!

I got NO photos of this car worth posting due to the same issue. The reflective crap is just that, crap.

I already told Sprint-momma, Chad Criswell`s car is going to be trouble at night, too.

After all these years you might think the graphics designers would figure out the cars look like you know what on a shingle at night with that stuff on them.

They've had a reflective number since at least 2007 so someone must like it, but it isn't any of the photographers.

Not to get off topic here. I love all the photos you guys take and post for our viewing.

But I have to say it seems this racers head is almost to the top of the roll cage. (he does look tall). I am thinking of the safety issues that could result if he would get upside down. :dontknow:

Did someone say that there are extensions that can be added to the frames to correct this issue?

Here is a highly visible car without a speck of reflective junk on it.

I'm shooting uphill (probably a couple or 3 feet) from the exit of pit road up toward the end of the front strech and going into turn one so this may cause it to look a little distorted.

I always liked the way the reflective numbers look when the car goes through the lights, captivating. There was a URC car a couple years ago(Bittner #15) that had reflective lettering that changed colors as it went past the lights, awesome.

i'm thinking that the graphics guys and the race teams are more concerned with the WOW factor as it sits in a display area or as it goes around the track where every fan sees it and aren't thinking about how it looks in a photo on the message boards. not saying right, wrong or indifferent but i'm guessing that's the thought process.

Maybe so,but I I were a sponsor I`d want to make sure my car looked good to a million readers of a Magazine or a newspaper, or on the web over what a few thousand at a track might see. :thumbright:

Which photo would more likely make the cut in the Media?

This ?

Or This?

If Cozze`s car had that reflective crap on it,my shot would be just as bad as Brian was able to do with that other car.....

I for one would like to give a big Thanks !!! to all the car owners who don`t put that reflective stuff on your cars. :thumbright:

Ok guys, I'll only shoot the reflective cars from now on, so you don't have to worry about it! :laughing7:
I actually think the reflective stuff is pretty cheesy-looking, so I'm not a fan of it even in daylight. Doesn't seem to bother me at night like it does you guys who are slaves to your giant illuminating overlords :poking:

Thanks! I thought you might have missed this post :cheers2:!

There's no better way to get no night pics of your car than to use reflective.
Not to mention any other car that's near you.
Nothing peeves a photographer more than reflective lettering. It's like the car got leprosy.

Then again unless you have a national sponsor who is most likely to patronize the sponsors on a car, the fans at the track who can see the reflective stuff pretty well or someone on the other coast looking at a computer who will likely never enter a state where the sponsor does business.

Is it just me but I never noticed the reflective lettering on a car on the track,
Actually alot drivers have ask me why don't you shoot my car, simple it looks terrible.
There is a very ez solution to shooting cars with reflective, but it takes a quick adjustment.
But why bother there's plenty of others to shoot.
Thankfully none of the top running 410s use it.
