I am going to be in the SF Bay area after Labor Day. :broccoli: The WOO are racing at these two speedways on the 9th & 10th of September. Has anyone been to either of these places? Any suggestions? Do the pits have a grandstand? Can you wander around the infield? :bananadance:

I've been to the Calistoga track (they weren't running that night) during a vacation a few years back. I remember a big front-stretch grandstands, but not sure what they do w/ the infield. I don't know anything about Antioch.

Calistoga is a big fairgrounds type of track with a covered grandstand and a beautiful view surrounding the track. The rigs park outside but the cars are pitted in the infield. You will enjoy it...nvr been to Antioch.

Calistoga is one fast race track. Racing is hit and miss because like most half miles, they tend to get strung out.

Antioch is my 2nd favorite California track other than Tulare. It's a nice facility and the racing is in a league of it's own. Especially with the WoO in town, I'd call it a can't miss. You'll be surprised because on a 3/8ths the likes of T. Kaeding, Bud Kaeding, Allard, Suggs, Golobic, Tarlton, etc can all be factors with the big boys.

Born and raised in California. Can't go wrong with either but if you're hitting one I'd hit Antioch. Let us know how it goes.

If you can, I would hit both. Calistoga is just one of those places that you want to go to at least once. The setting is beautiful, the track has a ton of history, and it's the biggest dirt track in Cali. The infield doesn't have the best sight lines, but they do set up small grandstands behind the pits. You can wander the infield with a pit pass. The grandstands are big and do have good sight lines, no haulers in the infield. I prefer the infield/pits, but California pit passes cost a fortune. (probably looking at 40-50 bucks for those races.

Antioch is a good show for wing cars, racing wise I would expect Antioch to be more exciting. The facilities there are a bit run down though. The surface will sand blast you as a spectator, and I've gotten bruises from the rocks nailing me through the arm guard. Also, try to get a ticket early, last year sold out and I think they had 1000 fans in the pits. The pits did not have enough grandstands for everyone, and I had a really crappy view since all the good seats were taken after the b-main. The track is narrow, and last year the outlaws ran single file restarts all night. (KWS does double file restarts at Antioch, but we are accustomed to racing in a broom closet).
