USAC will mandate that the Silver Crown cars run bio-based (ethanol) fuel in 2012 with the sprints and midgets moving to this for 2013. I'm concerned that this will have a bad impact on the Eastern Storm tour for 2013. It's hard enough now to get locals to run with USAC. Forcing then to switch over fuel systems and I doubt we see too many locals run. :ahhh:

Agreed, I don't think it's a very smart move to run a different fuel like that...

Wow- this sounds a whole lot like the "starters on midgets" debacle that decimated that class.

Still no brains in USAC management.

What all is involved with switching fuel systems over to use Ethanol?

Jason McCord says that USAC’s R&D and dyno testing indicated that the change could be as easy as changing the nozzles, jet setting and possibly the fuel pump. Then he adds that it really depends who you ask. I've also read that the fuel system will need to be drained and that some are expecting the engine to run hotter, plus all the old fuel date will be obsolete.

How you change over is simple. The people from Ethanol give you a ton of money and you just make the announcement...........and then let everyone else bear the consequences. Simple.

After a discussion with USAC today, the fact is that it will not be mandatory to use Ethanol in the sprints or midgets. There will be a bonus paid for people who do use it.

Well that's good news then! I was affraid that this rule would kill off the Eastern Storm and have a negitive impact on Indy Midget and Sprint week. :bdf:
