OK I think this has become an annual post, so here goes! Who's taking the wing off to go run with USAC this year on their Eastern Storm tour?

The only time the wing comes off the #18 this year is to put it in the garage......... ;)

We've tried 3 times 3 different years and destroyed 2 frames. We qualified at Hagerstown a couple years ago but USAC blew the dust off an old rule in their rule book and took it away from us because they didn't want to have to use a provisional for one of their travelling regulars. So they started 22 cars that day and left Todd Zinn and us (Daryl Stimeling) watch the race from the trailer. :ahhh:

The average winged team, like us are so far behind the 8 ball when compared to the USAC regulars and those young guy's are so talented and fearless that it's just darn difficult to compete at a high level with them. They do it for a living and we are just playing around.........

Now we might reconsider things some if there was a local division or several locaL shows schedulled.

I've got nothing but nice things to say about USAC. They've always treated me like a regular. On two occasions over the past two years they started everyone in the field instead of having the guys in the back go home when it was close to having people going home. They've given me free tires...paid quickly...and dealt with our inexperience running wingless with compassion.

..and...they always thanked us for coming out. I can't ask for much more then that. Of course it is tough for a lower dollar team to compete with Clayton, Jones, Windom, etc....but it's also tough to run against Montieth, Rahmer, and Hodnett. It's fun running wingless...something different and fun. Looking forward to it!

Dave is like Obama.....always finds someone to blame.....hahahaha........the USAC rules are printed in a book available to everyone online. It is always best to read someone's rules before you go poop in their kitty box.

The Facts is that for years, USAC qualified 4 out of each of the 4 heats which is 16 cars and then they take 6 from the B-Main......which is 22.....the last time I personally raced USAC, which was I think 1978 at the Reading Fairgrounds in the Max Britton # 27, that was the rule and it still stands today. I would call that consistancy :cheers2:

USAC is a stellar organization and I am proud to be a partner in a USAC sprint car team. I have always been treated respectfully by the USAC organization and find thier rules to be enforced.....no matter who you are.

Dave..........take off the wing and go make the race.....you can do it. I know you can.....and I actually find the non-wing racing very affordable.......everythning lasts much longer. :bdf:

Yea, it's a new group running things as of last year and I must admit they did a great job and did treat us locals much better then the previous group that went out of their way to treat us like crap....... But we are done playing with them. Beside our driver this year told us right up front he had NO desire to run wingless and thats fine.

I enjoy watching them very much and plan to support them as a spectator this year....... :cheers2:

No Gene we were qualified 22nd that day but because their regular unguided missle threw a bonsi on us on a next to last lap restart then tried to knock the fence down on the last lap they reverted back to the previous lap. And the USAC official was as big as huge tree with a big ahole. We were over ruled. But they could have used a provisional and the track is also allowed a provisional but we watch the feature from the top of the trailer.

Hey Gene I had a buddy (Duff Aurand) at Port this past week that wanted to meet you but I didn't get the chance to bring him over and introduce him to you. He just likes to be able to put faces with the few racers that actually post on here. Maybe next time. I was surprised to see you guys at Port. Dave had a pretty good run. Are you guys planning any additional trips to Port this year?

Dave........we got a pretty good break when the pole sitter went to the rear in our heat and we slid into a 4th place starting spot in our heat and then drawing 3rd starting spot for the feature was a break too. Our car was really good and Dave drove a great race. It as the most fun I've had in a long time.

That car was to start 4th on the outside of us and we were hoping he wouldn't go to the rear so he would slow down the outside lane a little. So you guys got us at the start and we finished 4th out of the drawl.
