I hope they get back on the schedule next year.

Port is after a WoO date next year according to the Port brass.

Won't happen..... I think this might of been discussed before, maybe on SJDR. But in any case, the fees that the WoO charge for just the appearance fee + the number of times the event has been rained out = the reason why Grandview doesn't bring them back for a weeknight show.

Grandview has had success with the WoO Late Models which put on one heck of a show. Personally, I would rather see Port Royal get the date.... JMO

WOO lowered the fees and purse for mid-week shows last year. Last time I went to GV for a WOO show, they had modifieds there and ran them first(took like an hour to run their crashfest of a feature). The track was then slicked off- 40 mph single file around the bottom for the sprints, which you couldn't see anyway because of the dust. That was the last time I've been to GV. It's a good place for sprints when they can keep the track tacky but that's not usually the case. One of the best 410 races I've ever seen was at GV when they used to have the fall classic around Halloween. That chilly fall air kept the track good the entire night.

The last time they were there was the first year of the Keystone Cup. A lot of people biatched about a WoO race being part of the series. Anyway, they were there with ARDC that night and it was a photo finish for the win. The Dud won I believe, over Schatz. Hell of a race and then the midgets ran and put on another great show.

I won't go back there for a winged 410 race until the WoO is back.

For the track to be a part of The Keystone Cup and PA Speedweeks, I think it is good for both parties. I do not think the World of Outlaws need to make a stop at the track, although for the publicity side, it'd be nice.

As for the 358 modifieds being the support class, Grandview will stand by what seems to be their "motto", that the 358 modifieds will bring THEIR fans to see the 410 sprint cars. Now give this some thought, and I will debate this until I am blue in the face......

I do not hate the 358 modified class there because it is some good racing (and 75% bent sheet metal), but....

the following that the 410 sprint cars have, they could probably pack Grandview Speedway to capacity themselves.

No offense to the 358, but the only time I will go to GV is when 410's are there and even then sometimes bypass. I doubt that the 358 crowd is the reason. The stands are full and leave after 410's. The stands are never as full as the 410 races. I would rather see Port have it as well. Even Bedford. Too many wrecks at grandview from what I have seen.

The race I'm talking about, they had the big block mods there not the 358's and for reasons unbeknownst to me or most of the impatient crowd, they ran their feature first. I don't know if the BB mod drivers weren't familiar with the track or what but they couldn't make 2 consecutive laps without a crash or spinout. I've seen the 358 mods there a couple times as part of the 5-25's and they usually put on a decent show. I think it is good to have GV on the KC and speedweek schedules as it adds another bullring to make things interesting. I wonder how good GV could be if they'd add some good quality clay. Most of the times I was there, the track was used up by feature time.

This topic was on the South Jersey Board. Grandview has no reason to have a WOO show. The Keystone Cup and PA Speedweek shows always get a hudge crowds. Why is Grandview going to pay the sanctioning fee when they can pack the house with just regular shows. I do remember the last WOO show and it was good. The one thing I always see with the Keystone Cup and Speedweek Show is the car counts being low. They are lucky to get a full field and if they do they are always some field filler cars.

My buddy and I went to that show together..No one else wanted to go...We often talk about how that race was BY FAR the coldest race we have ever been too.
