I think these new aluminum seats are a great improvement. Along with what Drak said, it also provides an easy way for the "rain" to clean the aluminum during the week so we have clean seats each week. It will be interesting to see how those 410 engines will make that aluminum vibrate when the cars go by.

It looks like the same signs are still along the walkways when you enter the grandstands and the signs are still at the top of the steps and along the press box. What has always amazed me is how the minute people enter the grandstands they become unable to read those "reserved" signs.

BRR the seats are numbered on top with red numbers for reserved the the yellow numbers will go on when warmer weather comes and they will also have red & yellow stripes on the front edge of the seats

we regulars understand that...but the knuckleheads that come in for a race here and there wander up to the reserved section need a visible SIGN to serve them notice before WE have to remind them.

a few instances were not pretty last year...even when there were other seats nearby...the idiots remained indignant.

when you sit on the backstretch, you come to understand that you are like a second class citizen to the tower because you can ask them for the same signage that is present in other parts of the grounds and simply be ignored!

glad to see some improvements are being made...maybe a trapeze net to catch the interlopers will be next? just kidding of course...that would cost $

Aluminum is an upgrade over wood, I don't doubt that. I'm over 6 feet tall and when the place is packed I have to sit sideways because there is no legroom at all and you have to crawl over people to get in and out of your seat. These are the most cramped bleachers of any track I've been to and this upgrade is akin to putting lipstick on a pig in my humble opinion. Maybe I'm the only one that thinks the Groves bleachers are extremely tight quarters?

i agree, but try the front stretch at Eldora and you see the worst conditions of all...Kville is too cramped for me as well.

That's what I'm afraid of Drak. I was hoping the future held a new set of comfortable high rise bleachers. I heard a rumor last year or the year before that plans were actually in the works. Just a pipedream i guess.

I've been to many a track where I have been more cramped than WG. I'm not saying they're the best, just that it's the same most everywhere you go. It's the nature of the sport. Tell me a track where you have ample leg room Hotrod.

I'll take Musco lighting and a backstretch tunnel before I'd worry about legroom. ;)

What!

Now I sit on the back stretch at Knoxville and there plenty wide enough. I'm 6'2" and was 370 for many years (I weight only 209 now :D ) and they were great to sit in.

yep, then along comes the drunks who needs 6 trips for beer and 4 for expelling the "once beer" and you enter jack in the box mode...i have had to stand on the seat to let them pass thru.

granted, Kville is a wonderful spectacle if you can ignore the parts that get on your nerves...the whole deal where you buy the beer in cups pretty much ruins it for the folks that are there to see the races but have the booze cruise crowd down the row from you.

WOOD is GOOD. But many of the wooden floor planks were cracked or had started to rot. Still preforming a safe footing for us appreciative fans but soon would have to be replaced to ensure an adequate safety factor.

Are the aluminum extrusions "new" or recycled from a local high school. New or 'GREEN' are good?

Hopefully gas will be affordable, Mother Nature will provide enough ground water, the crew chiefs can hook up the tires, the clay is great so we may experience, "It is showtime at the Grove", under Musco lighting.

Continuous improvements at all the 410 tracks in the valley.... Thanks

Lernerville has the best bleacher's I've seen. Nice wide 12" planks to sit your *** on and plenty of leg room in front of you. That's coming from someone who is 6'7".
