I am having trouble with my HP scanner. Out of the blue, the images when scanned are turning out really crappy.
It is set to Millions of colors, like it has always been. Default is 200 DPI,increasing it did nothing to help.

There are odd colors and square blocky pixels in the scans. Is the scanner going tango Uniform or is there anything I can check?

My chief troubleshooter(son) is at college and I won`t disturb him and his studies.

Any tips would be appreciated. I`m not the most computer proficient person around,to say the least

i don't know what is going on with your scanner but you could always trying reinstalling the software. i have had to do that with mine hp scanner but its not the same model as yours. what that did for me was start it of as new with all the settings.

That seemed like a good idea, but the computer won`t let me uninstall the program

It keeps saying something about configuring the program and sits there forever clicking and doing nothing....

Finally, success! When I got home last night, the computer had uninstalled the HP 3500 scanjet program. Then I had a rigamorole trying to re-install the program. It finally did install it,and now it works the way it is supposed to.
So if any of you have a scanner that goes from nice scanned images to sick looking low-res crap with odd tint and pixelly looking junk, uninstall your scanner program and then reinstall.
Part of the problem getting mine to uninstall might be because I have 4 GB worth of scanned images in my photo director
Thanks, Late model fan for the Help :D :cheers2:
