Aren't one way radios (track officials to drivers) now required at Lincoln this season ?

One way rados are required at Lincoln, Trailways, Path Valley so far...The officals tell you where wrecks are and they tell you where to line up under caution...They tell you when your going back to green and then they shut up...

Its a very good way to keep your show moving...Many many benefits to this....

Lincoln was using Channel 454...

I would venture that most respectable tracks will turn to the one-ways in the near future. I would like to hear a driver's opinion about them. Are they an asset or a detriment? Asset I would guess. And do they make a real difference on the track under racing conditions.

I can tell you what a certain driver has said. " I had an excellent set of ear plugs now I can't use them" I know I am on the minority here, but I think they did fine for over 50 yrs. without a radio they force you to buy for $185.00. When asked what kind of warranty comes with it the reply was "none". As far as saving time, kind of like the 15 min. they spent looking for a lost radio at Lincoln during a heat and then the feature rained out about 15 min. from the end.
Here is a story for you. The other Friday night I was watching Ronnie plug this thing in and trying to find a convenient place to stuff it in his uniform, and not be in the way of his belts.
I said " Dave I told you when your driver wears a pace maker he's too Da** old".

A the drivers' meeting the first night we used one-way radios at Lincoln, there were only two criticisms of them from drivers who had experience using them. Jeff Shepard and Fred Rahmer asked that conversation on them be kept to a bare minimum when the green was out or about to come out in order not to be a distraction and that if the starter was going to give a "green" command over them that he always do it - Fred told a cute story about how that didn't happen once in Florida and caused him to have to start the feature from the cheap seats.

Otherwise, drivers seem to like them. I've also been told that they can be purchased online for significantly less than local sources are charging for them.

I see no problem with the 1 way radios...

They may take some time to get used to...But its a good thing...IMO

The Grove will be the last to get them, they still don't use transponders for timing!

The Grove doesn't use transponders for timing??? Then what were those red things Brian Householder was handing out last night when drivers drew for their time trial order?? I believe that would be a transponder. Some people should make sure they know what they're talking about before posting.
