Yes, the bottom frame rails on a sportsman are box tubing. They can not be run in any other division.

this again comes with being new to understanding all these divisions but I dont see the purpose of a sportsman with all the other winged/non winged/etc..
go 358 and 410 sprints!!!! :bananadance: :bananadance:

Simple economics, Sportsmans were designed to be more of a "budget" class, not every team that wants to race can afford forty-fifty grand for a 410 engine. These cars are self-starting and carbed, NOT fuel injected. Basically, it's one of the most competetive divisions in the area, When Silver Spring was still runnin' , 50 plus cars every week. You could win one week, and not even make the show the next. I still enjoy watching those guys every chance I get :cheers2:

To learn more about all of the divisions, just spend some time you-tubin, most classes on there somewhere, but it is still WAY better LIVE!

besides being heavier they have no power steering....saw some of those drivers get out after the 100 lapper and were really beat. I also liked the fact they don't have to be pushed to get started. When they were having 5 heats, the point leader could start no better than 15th, if they were lucky enough to finish 3rd or better. They were some of the most competitive races you would ever want to see. 24 cars on a 3/8 mile track was a lot of excitement.

Yep 50 to 60 cars weekly at the Spring! You could win one week and miss the feature the next.
