Have you taken your child to any of the local Kart tracks, just to view?
Many very good tracks. Starting with Hunterstown, Shippensburg, Selinsgrove, Penns Creek and so on.. Oh yes, SSP has the outback track (this is an EXCELLENT track to introduce kart racing) But of course you'll need you own kart with these suggestions.
Along with that note i will add, most of the quarter midget tracks have a rookie day where drivers let new kids run their car for a few laps. You don't need a car, you can even borrow a helmet. Great experience to get your kids feet wet. Most are at the start of the year and you can usually find dates in AARN.
I think it is something the local kart tracks should look at doing. I also will add the SSP test and tune dates on the Outback track are an excellent option. Most owners if approached would not have a problem using their car to send your child out for a couple laps. You would need to approach restricted class owners only as to not scare their pants off or worse.
