Anyone have any pics they could post from or of the old covered grandstands and cement bleachers at the port? I sure do miss them. I still love the place but it hasn't been the same since they put in the aluminum grandstands.

Sat on them all. I prefer the new one. Nothing stays the same forever.

Great pic! Thanks for posting. The new grandstand is certainly nice and port no doubt has some of the best seating that you will find at any dirt track but nothing beats sitting right up close to the speedway and being only feet away from the sprinters as they scream down that awesome front stretch. To each his own I suppose. A lot of people love the new bleachers and so do I but at the same time, I still miss the old set up too. The overall atmosphere just isn't the same.

I remember my first trip to Port, sat in the seats of 1080's first picture with 1080 and I correctly picked both the 410 and late modle feature winners that night. I think I won a bottle of soda on the trip home from the discounted soda machine in Newport. And other then standing in turn 3 those grandstand seats were the best. :bdf:

My first time there was in 1962....sat on the bottom of the concrete seats. The picture looking toward the 4th turn shows the wall and catch railing/fence from the era. You sat within a few feet of the cars. I remember a little silver car that was much smaller than the others with no number on it......just flying by against the wall....Johnny Mackison! I was scared to death for sure!!!!

Never better seats in auto racing!!!

Not Port but Selinsgrove. When the Port stands came down, I realized there arn't going to be many left in the near future so I've been taking a lot of pictures of the place.

Front row seats in the old covered grandstands were without a doubt the most thrilling seats at any track.

I sat in those grandstands a few times can't you see the track trying to get insurance
to cover the grounds if the stands and that catch fence were still there today ?? $$$$$
