Now I see Octoberfest IS no more. :( They dropped the small block modifieds and cut back the laps.

(That brings back memories of last Octoberfest when they ripped the off fans by cutting the laps in half after the fans were in the stands.)

Since that joint in New York decided to run Mods against O-Fest, they were drawing 30 cars per division. From those, almost half of both divisions were multicar teams who are running both divisions, but only bringing 1 crew... So you're getting roughly 40 paying teams for 2 purses... Any promotor that wants to ensure viability has to make changes to cut the things that are not working, and try new things to get back into the black. If Hagerstown can run this year in the black, some of you will be very pleased with what they might be able to do for next year. At least they're trying new things... and not just opening up the gates and going with the status quo...

That would be Five Mile Point ; they do that so they could keep their drivers home there and not travel  :ahhh:

I wonder if they will try something like cutting the ticket price too since they dropped a division? I doubt it. Just like last year when they ripped the fans off by cutting the laps back and paying the same purse BUT keeping the tickets the same. :laughing7:

Trust me, I'm far from a fanatic with rose colored glasses when it comes to any track... If I have a personal involvement, I'm often more critical because that's the way that I am with my own work. You don't see me on here pimping everything they do... so to dismiss my opinion and insinuate that it doesn't count because I'm involved is unfair. Hagerstown is no different than Port, Williams Grove, Winchester, Potomac, and Bedford... I'm involved with all of them, and want to see them all succeed.

Here's how I look at that deal. In the last 10 years, I've gone there and seen some absolutely AWFUL 350 lap parades with ZERO passes for the lead. It was on those days that I felt that the people got screwed... This year, I saw side by side racing in all 4 divisions, passes for the lead, and some of the best racing that I've ever seen at the O-fest. Despite how any laps they ran... I didn't feel anyone got screwed. In fact, I (and many others with longer drives than I) would have been more upset if they ran the whole distance because we'd have been there till 9 or 10 PM...

They've made lots of mistakes in the past few years from mismanagement / lack of attention... like another track that we both love... I have faith that they are making strides toward get things going in a positive direction again with an increased emphasis on promotion. They didn't destroy it overnight, and they're not going to fix it overnight, but if they can operate in the black next year, good things will come in 2013. I'm not going to ridicule or belittle someone who feels slighted by their experiences last year, but I hope that everyone with the "I'm never going back there" mindset remembers how incredible the racing is when the place is right... because sooner, rather than later, things will get better..

Agreed. A WOO show at Lincoln would be awesome. It's been way too long.

After reading this thread about what I think is the craapiest excuse for a 410 venue (hagerstown)...we find that Lincoln actually had a shot at scheduling an event...the only way i will drive to Hagerstown is for it to be a rain delay situation that shown the man upstairs will once gain permit a good race there.
