Don't know what they will pay now but despite what some think the money Paterno worked for is the only reason he survived efforts to get rid of him a few years back.

The coach that Penn State is interested in, and only name that has surfaced was Northwesterns' Pat Fitzgerald.

Not sure if this will be the coach picked in the end, but I guess we will all find out. :wellwaiting:

 ... A person with knowledge of the decision says Pittsburgh has hired Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst as its head football coach. :cheerleader:

... would think that would keep most of the incoming class intact especially that stud western Pa running back :bananadance:

Jojo Doria – AHN Sports Contributor
Pittsburgh, PA, United States (AHN Sports) – Pittsburgh football’s search for its next head coach is expected to come to an end after it was reported that the Panthers are set to hire Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst for the vacant post.

Chryst, known for his impact on the Badgers offense the last few years, emerged as the leading candidate for Pitt’s next football coach, reports the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.

Though he has never been a head coach on any level, the 46-year-old Chryst’s resume boasts of experience as well as the results

I have said this on many occasions,if they could get Chris Peterson, he is an excellent coach. Unfortunately, all his recruiting ties are on the west coast but still think he could make the transition.

Yes, I do understand Tom Bradley's name was thrown around there a few times over the last 5 years to replace Paterno, but it wasn't a 'given'. I think because of all what has happened there, Tom Bradley's chances are few and far between to become head coach. No offense to Tom Bradley at all, I just believe Penn State is going to need a hard nosed coach to turn things around for the program. Either way, it will be a tough task and will take an immense amount of time to succeed.

There have been a ton of names thrown around on bleacher report. Seems like the leading candidate is Dan Mullen who is currently the HC at Miss St. and was Urban Meyer's OC at Utah and Florida. Some of the other names I have seen mentioned:

Ken Niumatalolo- Navy HC
KC Keeler- Delaware HC
Chris Peterson- Boise HC
Greg Schiano- Rutgers HC
Tom Clements- GB Packers QB coach

Al Golden is another but I guess he has decided to stay at Miami. Peterson would obviously be on the top of anyones wishlist but he already turned down a $4 mil/year offer from UCLA.

I just hope they get someone with a good reputation. The Sandusky scandal has put a big black cloud over the school that's gonna hurt them for a few years but getting the right coach will help it blow over. They've already lost 3 of their top 2012 recruits.

In my personal opinion, they should get out of the rust belt conference and go back to being the Beast of the East. Word has it that the ACC is looking for 1 more member and PSU was one of the schools they were interested in. The big10 has not been supportive at all and let them get bypassed for better paying bowl games that went to teams with worse records that PSU beat. Cheater U is gonna dominate the big10 anyway, now that they have Meyer.

... 1. Munchak 2. Clements ....

Munchak isn't coming ... hire Tommy & leave him recruit PA & hire new staff

... PSU is killing any chance of recruiting with drawout "search"
