Somewhere in time the max weight rule should be looked at. I would certainly hate to be the driver sitting sideways on the track in a 2250lb car and have someone in a 2800lb sled blast into the side of me! Only looking at the safety side of it.

2250 seems to be the most common minimum. of all the tracks listed none other than sg list a maximum in their online rules. not sure why you'd want to be heavier anyway but there could be some tanks out there. apparently some give weight allowances depending on the manufacturer and/or construction of the motor. some don't even say "minimum" just that it WILL weigh ####. i'm sure they meant minimum but i guess if you come in at 2201 or 2251 at some of these places and they don't like you, your screwed.

hagerstown - The minimum weight limit is: Ford and GM products: 2250 lbs. All other Products: 2150lbs. Weight limit will be by engine make and not body type.

port royal - The total weight of the car with the driver will be 2,200 pounds.

winchester - ALL CARS MUST WEIGH 2250 WITH DRIVER AFTER THE RACE, NO FUEL ADDED

bedford - All legally built late models must weigh a minimum of twenty-two hundred pounds (2200 lbs.) with driver in the car after the race.

roaring knob & dog hollow - Unlimited 2,250 weight—Aluminum block and heads—OK. Unlimited motor displacement.
Steel Block 2,200 weight—Steel block only. Aluminum heads—OK. Unlimited motor displacement
Spec 2,200 weight—360 ci limit

lucas oil - A minimum weight limit of 2300lbs for Aluminum blocks & 2250lbs for Steel blocks

STUPID QUESTION ALERT!!!!!!!!!!

What advantage would it be to have a heavier car?

This would seem to be antithetical to everyone's quest for lightweight components and cars.

Darn, I think most of us were hoping for a different kind of rule change.
