Trust me, I'm far from a fanatic with rose colored glasses when it comes to any track... If I have a personal involvement, I'm often more critical because that's the way that I am with my own work. You don't see me on here pimping everything they do... so to dismiss my opinion and insinuate that it doesn't count because I'm involved is unfair. Hagerstown is no different than Port, Williams Grove, Winchester, Potomac, and Bedford... I'm involved with all of them, and want to see them all succeed.
Here's how I look at that deal. In the last 10 years, I've gone there and seen some absolutely AWFUL 350 lap parades with ZERO passes for the lead. It was on those days that I felt that the people got screwed... This year, I saw side by side racing in all 4 divisions, passes for the lead, and some of the best racing that I've ever seen at the O-fest. Despite how any laps they ran... I didn't feel anyone got screwed. In fact, I (and many others with longer drives than I) would have been more upset if they ran the whole distance because we'd have been there till 9 or 10 PM...
They've made lots of mistakes in the past few years from mismanagement / lack of attention... like another track that we both love... I have faith that they are making strides toward get things going in a positive direction again with an increased emphasis on promotion. They didn't destroy it overnight, and they're not going to fix it overnight, but if they can operate in the black next year, good things will come in 2013. I'm not going to ridicule or belittle someone who feels slighted by their experiences last year, but I hope that everyone with the "I'm never going back there" mindset remembers how incredible the racing is when the place is right... because sooner, rather than later, things will get better..
I'm not gonna argue. lmao
