There were 6 410s on hand with Blaine Heimbach turning in the fastest lap of 15.90 seconds and young gun Dylan Cisney with a lap of 16.20.
Around 20 late models showed up for bug day with a fast lap in the low 19 second bracket, not sure who the driver was. Rookie Trent Brennaman did a great job today for never being in a late model before.
With the cold temps overnight the track crew done a wonderful job getting the track ran in and provided a dust free super smooth daytime surface. The 410s and late models were turning the same lap times for their last practice session as their first one.
Kudos to the track crew for a good start to the season.
Next Sat night will be the first race of the year at Port with 410s and 358 sprint cars on the schedule. Start time is 6:00 pm. I over heard Steve O'Neil telling the track crew that he wants the track ready to race at start time so he can get the race teams and fans on their way home early.
Actually they missed it a little but recovered well. Need to pay a little closer attention to the weather forcast. Should have known the track would freeze over night and then they put a little too much water down delaying things slightly. Track did look great after it was run on a little. First round for the sprints it was still a little slimy with a couple spinning out including Mike Erdley which doesn't happen often. Great field of Late models could have run a feature. Should be a great opener next week......

It was also good to see a good many local fans in the stands.
