What is the best way around this stupid construction from Hazelton Pa to Frackville Pa ? its in two places; i through there driday on my way to Grove and stuck in traffic over a hour :ahhh:  and was wondering is any other better way to go around it or bypass it on my to Grove every week? :cheers2: If I took Pa turnpike to route 78 that would add on a extra hour to my travel  route 80 os out because they would add another hour to my travel; what about pa turn pike to route 443 south to Pine Grove? any ideas would be a VERY big help please and also HAPPY EASTER TO ALL :cheers2: :cheers2: :cheers2:

Perhaps you would have to use I-80 to get to it, but how about coming down US11-15? I travel to Bradford County now and then and use that route.

Well, starting 4/9, you can scratch the Turnpike/I-78 idea from your list.

The signs are up that construction will start west of Route 100 on 4/9/2012 and I believe the signs coming back westbound start somewhere out around Frystown.

So, those of us from East are gonna be back to long backups and delays coming and going each weekend all summer.

That's an extra 45-50 miles to connect to PA 54 which takes you to route 11 which is way out of the way. And forget about connecting to route 11 in berwick as you'll have to deal with traffic in bloomsburg and danville on a friday (not a fun time of the day). Best bet would be connect to US 209 at some point, run that into Tremont then hop back on I-81 just west of town as you head back up the mountain. it's a pain in the you know what but it may be quicker.

get off 81 at the Hazleton exit and turn right onto 924 south. it will take you to the main street in Frackville where you can pick up 81 south.

i have to travel that way weekly when i come home from college. its not a bad drive....won't add too much time to your drive.

I happen to be working on that project the delay on Friday was closer to Hazelton the job from Frackville to Hometown exit should not hold up traffic unless you get a stupid truck driver that can't read the nothing over 10 restriction and i've seen plenty in 3 weeks. I have been up there for a month only time there is a delay was from wide loads that don't follow directions and i can tell you it cost the one driver his job and the company 57,000.00 dollars. Actually Penn dot does not allow us to work on holiday's so friday there was no work going on by my company not sure about the Hazelton job it was probly just the holiday traffic that had it messed up this week.

I think it was probably worse Friday because of the Holiday. There is really no good way around it, I travel that area all the time for work. Tis the season for orange cones. I hate to see more construction but they really need to work on the area between Ravine and Pine Grove, it is bad!
