My motto still is "Always cheer for all the drivers."

You never know who is in the seat near you. Help bring respect back to America, cheer like heck when you see the driver is okay and thank God!
I agree with cheering for all, and certainly for not cheering at anybody crashing - particularly if you cheer before finding out if the guy is even alive and OK. Anybody willing to strap in and take their chances deserves our respect, as do the crews and owners who put time, money, work, and dedication in getting the cars there and ready to race.
I don't recall where or when it was, or even what sport, but long ago I was sitting near a fellow who was cheering wildly for one team or driver, and something happened that would clearly give the person or team he was cheering for the win. I was puzzled when the guy got very upset. He explained that he wanted his player, driver, or team to beat the best the others had to offer, not to win because of crash, flat, accident, or injury.
And for those who boo and act out because of booze, I'll simply request that if you can't hold your liquor, and keep your cool, drink at home. And for all those who drink, please make sure there's a designated driver to get you and the rest of us who share the road with you home safely.
