Do You Remember when

Post by RT88 » Sat Jul 14, 2012 11:31 am

I have been scanning in this large collection. There are a lot of photos from over the years I have on disks. Here are some from the past. See if you can remember when...

Steve Bubb

This crash in turn two at Williams Grove Speedway. I believe that is Sam Armstrong

If you remember this you are a true old timer. This is Susquehanna Speedway from its first year of operation. I do find it interesting that the men's rooms sign is pointing to the sky. Not sure where you would find that bathroom

This flip at the Reading Fairground. Leroy Felty probably does because he is getting a good view of it from his No. 7

This 1966 midget race at the frightening Allentown Fairground half mile. That is Mel Kenyon and Mario Andretti in the front row. If you were there that day and walked through the exhibit area, I was the skinny runt at the Department of Agriculture booth. Either that or I was up at the monkey races. Man, they need to bring back the monkey races. PITA would protest like crazy, but they were great. You young folks don't know what you are missing until you see the monkey races. Picture monkeys strapped into large slot cars and racing on a big slot car track. The monkeys would howl and often slap each other as they went around the track.

Thanks - my wife is out, the cats are sleeping and I am getting in some serious computer time. Just sitting here scanning in photos, watching the weather radar and cursing at said radar about every ten minutes. Hope everyone enjoys the photos!!! Oh no, the wife just returned! I'll update it over the next several days.

Before we had good safety crews. This is actually not from here but from Ohio. Thanks to the guys out in Ohio for this photo. Grab 'em by the ankles and yank them out!

The #82 flipping at Reading was Leigh Earnshaw in 1976, he got hurt bad in that crash.

The No. 50 in the turn four pit at Silver Spring Speedway. Several drivers drove the 50 so I do not know the driver. A number of cars landed in the pit outside turn four
