Sad news for all of us NHRA fans. NHRA announcer Bob Frey announced his retirement. Bob will retire at the end of this season. He wants to spend more time with his eight grandchildren. I will really miss having the BobN8Tor around. We have swapped some great racing stories over the years.

If you are at Maple Grove today and see Bob, stop and thank him for a great job. He is one of the very best behind the microphone.

By the way, what two incredible days at Maple Grove. Huge crowds and record setting runs. In talking with Dave Grubnic, he thinks Connie can coax a little bit more out of the car. That Grubnic - Kalitta run yesterday was one for the ages. The numbers were incredible.

Jack Beckman said both lanes are very even. It does not matter what side you roll into, the chance is there to put up some big numbers. Great job by Maple Grove and the NHRA in giving everyone a near perfect track. Pro Stock guys say there are two small bumps on the left side that bother the cars. It was fun yesterday watching Greg Anderson basically bracket racing by lifting at the line. Greg was not real happy when Jason had fast time, but on the other hand, Jason was pretty happy.

The plan is if today falls to the rain, we will be racing on Monday. Steve Bubb
