Nice little story in the Baltimore Sun of the Board Track that once existed in Laurel Maryland.

Board tracks must have been really something to see. I've seen pics of drivers with a facefull of splinters after a race, and the speeds must have far exceeded any other track at the time. Cool article, thanks for sharing!! :cheers2: :cheers2: :thumbleft:

I read a story on I think it was on the board track in Allentown. Where kids would be hired to stick flags up through hole in the track so racers wouldn't hit the holes. It also said sometime these kids would pop their head up through the holes to see. :yikes: Then pop back down before cars got close. Would've been awesome to see one of these masterpieces.

After Baltimore-Washington held events in 1925 and 1926, there appears to be no activity in 1927. However in April 1928 according to the Baltimore Sun and Washington Post, the track was taken over with plans to hold auto racing and "stock car" racing along with a small track for dog racing. The projected date was July 4th.
No record of any race was found in July and by August of 1928, an article appears that was track was being dismantled.

Slinkmasterc, that was Altoona, not Allentown. I remember reading about the holes in the track, too, like you said, must have been quite a sight!
