I have started a team and built a car to run in the 24 Hours of Lemons. If you are not familiar with the series you can check it out at www.24hoursoflemons.com
As with any racing, the website does not tell the whole story. The closest thing I can relate it to in this area is vintage car racing. Yes, it is a race, but contact is highly frowned upon. Plus, the endurance aspect, and having other drivers on the team waiting their turn, means you are not actually pushing the car to its very limits.
The car we built is a 93 Mustang with a 2.3L 4 cylinder. The car is rust free, and should be fairly easy to obtain parts and/or fix when needed.
There are 3 racing that I plan to attend in 2013, Monticello Motorsports Club in NY in April, Summit Point Raceway in VA in June, and New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ in August.
