More photo's from the 60s (part 2)

Post by 60s Fan » Mon Jan 28, 2013 5:08 pm

I believe these are photos from the late 60s but I have no dates on the pictures.
Let’s name the year, drivers and owners.

I'm not a Port Royal expert and this was 20+ years before my time but I'll take a guess...
Leroy Felty #7
Smoke Snellbaker #53
Sam Yoder #10
John Ebersole (?) #29 ...Don't remember that one
Elmer Ruby #711
Junior Ritchey #880
Dont remember who's in #45 ...maybe Jimmy Smith?
Donnie Varner #44
Johnny Grum #66

I know for fact Smoke was in Bud Hoffman's #53 in 1969, so I'll say just about all of these are from '69

The red #7 is John Red Dysinger. The blue #77 is John Dann.

John Dysinger ran the Dan Dailey owned #29 in 1969 and also ran the #7 for a couple shows, other then that I d say Felty was in the 7.

The #44 was actually owned by Donnie Varner, his brother Harold and brother-in-law Joel Anthony, thus the V and A Racing Team. They kept that car right across the street from where I lived and I spent many enjoyable hours there when growing up. :bdf:
Nothing beats the old points based handicapping system.
Draw and TT shows suck.

Is it just me, or does the No. 53 "look" like the first Bud Grimm sprinter?

"Is it just me, or does the No. 53 "look" like the first Bud Grimm sprinter?"

I`d say. :thumbleft:

I don`t ever remember seeing that car as #53. I guess I was going to more USAC races that year, because I can remember Smoke in the York Cash Register car the year before just fine.
