The former half mile oval at Kirkwood, New York is now a park. The upper turns were equal with the upper ballfield

This was way before my time, but in Pa., outskirts Shippensburg Pa, out past a little town called Cleversburg, near the foot of mountain, there use to be a speedway there. I don't recall what the track name was, but was told from a still living old timer, that there was a track in that area. Rumers were it has grown up pretty bad but you can tell there was one there at some time.

I was at a flea market today at Columbia Speedway in Columbia SC. 1/2 mile'ish paved with pretty decent banking. Looked like it would have been pretty racy. :(
found some info on it :(

Historic Columbia Speedway was one of the "cradles of stock car” racing from its opening in 1948 to the track closed for racing in 1978. The track often hosted many of stock car greats including Richard Petty, David Pearson, Ned Jarrett, Junior Johnson to name a few. Today the speedway has opened with a new mission to host all types of events from festivals, concerts, cycling, car shows, and trade shows. The 9 acre grassed infield incased by the old half mile asphalt oval creates a unique and special environment. Large parking facilities allow for comfortable crowds of thousands. The facility plans for long-term additions include a museum and conference center as well as a 9 acre park with a Historic Walk of Fame saluting the drivers who raced there. The Historic Columbia Speedway is a place to celebrate history while enjoying a unique outdoor venue for all types of events

The track near Cleversburg was the Walnutdale Speedway. At one point it was the Shippensburg Speedway. Part of the track remains today.

I heard there was a track in Bradford County , Pa, near where I used to hunt. Doty Hill Speedway, last run about 1960, any pictures of that?

Yes, I have a Doty Hill aerial somewhere. The track was a sister speedway to the one on the south end of Elmira, NY. It was about a stone throw away from the NY state line. Track was doing well until a car went off the track and slammed into a tractor. There was a little girl on the tractor and she was seriously hurt. That brought an end to the speedway.

Just found the Doty Hill aerial - today the track is a wheat field but when the wheat is cut you can still see the layout of the track

Do you happen to have a snap shot of the general area the track may have been. Do alot of hiking and hunting, may want to scroll to that area and take in some hunting and sights. Thanks!

Here you go, this is the track outside of Cleversburg. It took up the entire area west of Walnutdale Road.

A high school football field covers the former Audrain Speedway in Missouri. The race track went the opposite direction from the football field
