RIP....

Saw him win a late model race at Port Royal in 1974. It was a blue Chevelle #1.....may have had a letter with the number.

I'm rather sure Brad Teague (SP) drove the Busch car some, may have beem others. He had one when they were running V6's and I think his was a Buick.

My sister did some PR for John (as well as some stories for Jack Gunn's programs) and we have lots of memories of John....all good ones. I remember riding in the back of his pick up to race at Jennerstown, with one side of the car rattling through the PA turnpike tunnels on the way, and the other side rattling on the way home.....we had bonzai runs from Port Royal to Hagerstown down Route 75 wishing his car had seatbelts in the back seats.. Our parents wern't real thrilled we went racing with him but over the years my dad and Smoke got to be good friends...I don't think he had many enemies....I think his first driver with his NASCAR racing might have been **** Trickle..and he had Ed Berrier, and Shawna Robinson in the seat as well.
