Thanks Al. I love the old Reading Ad. The drawings of the cars are wonderful, just like the old Indy programs

WOW!! These are great. I never heard of Zellers Grove Speedway, but it must have been very popular. Toby used to live in Cleona, where in the heck is Cleona?

Re: Old Racing Advertisements
I believe this would be Toby's older brother, Larry, that raced the Roadster in 1949. I don't think Richard "Toby" Tobias started driving until 1954 at Hilltop (he won his first race) in the Jalopies.Double D Fan wrote:WOW!! These are great. Re: Old Racing Advertisements
Zellers Grove and Hilltop were located outside of Myerstown. They said back when they operated you could see one from the other track. Hilltop is still there, buried under weeds and trees. Someone recently built a house on top of Zellers Grove.
To find Hilltop take Route 645 north out of Myerstown. Turn right onto Kutztown Road. Go about a mile north and turn right onto Eisenhour Road. Travel to the point where there is a bend in Eisenhour Road. The track is on the south side behind the houses.
To find Zellers Grove do the same. Take Route 645 (Stracks Dam Road) north out of Myerstown. Watch for Cricket Lane on the right side. Just past Cricket Lane there is a lane on the right side. The track was at the end of the lane
That was Toby's brother that raced at Hilltop.
