Kyle Larson's average finish through first 5 races in Nascar, 17.8.
Steve Kinser's average finish through first 5 races in Nascar, 35. Then he was fired.

I'm just saying. Didn't know the 42 was a top notch ride either.

True. But let's not forget Dillon dumped Larson at Daytona.

The thing about watching guys like Larson and Tony Stewart is that it makes me wish they could have been around in the days when guys like Foyt and Andretti would be racing anything with wheels - stock cars, Indy cars, stop on the way to the next race to run midgets at some small-town track, dirt track or asphalt, road course or oval, whatever - they'd race it. My greatest respect is for that kind of driver, as opposed to the one-class or one series specialists.

But it's all a big business now, and I don't think we'll ever see the days of serious multiple-threat competitors again. Not that guys like Stewart, Larson, and others aren't capable, but as Stewart's broken leg showed, it's sometimes a bad business decision. Few drivers are in a position to make the call for themselves, rather than being directed by team owners or contracts as to what they will or won't do.

True. But let's not forget Larson put himself in the wall on lap 1...
