NDRL done already!

Post by Shuey21 » Tue Jul 01, 2014 11:45 am

NDRL has canceled the rest of their season. SOunds like even the Northeast series is done also this is a post about their track McKean County.

The NDRL McKean County Raceway management has decided beginning this Friday, July 4th to drop the weekly super late model division from its program. Due to the economic restraints of the region, the highly priced super late model division is no longer feasible as a weekly class at MCR.

The scheduled NDRL Northeast Late Model Series event and the NDRL Modified Series event have been removed from this weekend’s schedule. The USMC Corporal Jason Dunham Memorial will still be ran this Friday night but now as a weekly RUSH Crate Late Model event seeing an increased purse for the crate teams. A complete FIVE STAR racing program will be in action featuring the RUSH Crate Late Models, Close Racing Supply Modifieds, Highway Auto Stock Cars, Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks

“We are sad to make this decision at MCR, stated track General Manager, Chris Zuver, but for MCR to stay financially viable and provide weekly entertainment for our fans and our competitors we had to make a very tough decision.” “There is no body that wants to see weekly super late model racing at MCR more than myself and John Kennedy, but reality, majority of the super late model teams are not local teams and travel a hour or more to come to MCR as there are only two super late model teams in McKean County and two in Cattaraugus county in neighboring New York. The super late models will return in the future as a special event class.

With that being said, this Friday night, MCR will be in action featuring the RUSH crate late models in the USMC Corporal Jason Dunham Memorial along with a full weekly program. MCR is looking at a new increased purse for the crate late model division. MCR has already looked into visiting sanctioned series to visit MCR in the second half of the year to be the headline division on certain nights of racing.

Race teams that competed last week will have their money waiting for them at the registration booth in the pits and all super late model teams will be receiving their monetary funds from June 28th event from MCR, General Manager, Chris Zuver in the very near future.

"they" didn't do much or bring much to port other than the Kennedy cars of blair and fuller. the only other series follower was barbara, the rest were regional drivers who attended for a higher payout. the same would happen without a "sanction" and a higher payout ie: speedweek.

you can't have a legitimate series by piggybacking off lucas or WoO. maybe kennedy will realize this now.

Kind of like the regular weekly drivers at MCR. Hopefully if you guys get paid the checks won't bounce again.

I don't think we will ever see that check.. And that clown said he would be interested in promoting a big race in the future.. HAHA.. Good luck with that..

Is the butch Renniger memorial still to be a ndrl race?. Just curious as to why the track doesn't pay the purse and just give them a check for the sanctioning fee?.

no idea about them still being involved with the Butch Renniger memorial.. I have seen most of the up coming NDRL Northeast races are now not being sanctioned by them.. Also.. for some reason NDRL was handling the payout for this race... We were told the NDRL was paid the purse by the track.. Tax forms were filled out and now no payout..

I was standing out by the pits at Port this past weekend (7/12) and listened to the drivers meeting and at the end they mentioned some of the bigger races they have coming up and said the Renniger Memorial will be a non sanctioned race but will still offer a very nice payout.

They need to move the race to another date. It makes no sense at all for them to run it up against both the World of Outlaws at Selinsgrove and the Three State Flyers at Winchester. Too many tracks try to schedule against each other on the holiday weekend instead of working together!

They will probably get what they got last year all locals with bigger money up for grabs nothing wrong with that. :thumbright: Think they had about 3 travelers.

You mean move the Outlaw date right?? Been running this race at Port since 2005.. So that must mean Selinsgrove added their race against Ports big race if I am reading it right..

Well what is easier? Moving a WoO race or moving an unsanctioned race? I'm sure the WoO will just forget about their races in Michigan if Selinsgrove decides to race the week before.

Although, I'm sure that the drivers would prefer to change the WoO schedule around for next year. They are in DE/VA two weeks before Selinsgrove, then they go to Michigan, then to Lernerville/Selinsgrove, then back to Michigan. The most logical choice would be to move the DE/VA races one week earlier in August, then run Lernerville/Selinsgrove the following week, then take a week off, then go to Michigan for Labor Day weekend, and the weekend after.

Thanks,
Jeff.

Selinsgrove has held a significant Labor Day late model race since 2004 with a pretty good purse ($10,000 to win). Originally it was run as the Paul Long Memorial through 2008. There was a 3 year hiatus before again using the weekend in 2012 for the WoO late models (rained out). SOOOOOOOO who scheduled against who?
My OPINIONS are just that and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of anyone or any track I am associated with!

I forgot about the Paul Long race.. Wasn't even sure when it was raced.. We were running Hagerstown back then.. But anyway.. There are plenty of cars to go around and honestly.. How many Port cars would even go to Selinsgrove to race with WoO anyway?? Let alone even a regular show.. 2 or 3 at the most.. And those 3 missed races at Port anyway from either racing at Hagerstown or Selinsgrove..

Just gotta face the facts its a big racing weekend and everyone cant be pleased..
