 ... isn't the Payless car the one which Doug ran the "alphabet" @ Knoxville (1990) with?

1990, I remember it like it was yesterday. That was taken back when racing was fun!

Doug ran the alphabet in the #18 Kodiak car in 1988. He drove this #8 car in 1990 as Nate said, but started both the 1988 and 1990 A-Mains in 21st spot.
Which means he at least ran the B-Main both years.

 ... watch @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61oJXhjYRuI

Won the D main and finished second to Kauffman in the C main. He won the B main and after starting in the rear of the A main went on to finish a very respectable 5th in the A main. (1990)

Cool. I didn't remember his run in 1990. I will check the tape I have from 1988 to see which letter main he started in. He was amazing when he was motivated beyond normal. :thumbright:

I just watched the 1988 Knoxville Nationals. It was almost a carbon copy of 1990 except Wolfie started 11th in the C- Main. Won the C finished 2nd to Kenny Jacobs in the B, and finished 5th in the A again. Awesome runs by one of the best ever.
