Re: Nascar Old Days
The 'good old days' of Nascar for me are the late 60's thru the mid-90s...it was already in steep decline for me even by the time of this race, and when Sr got killed the next, even more so....

When in doubt....GAS IT!!!

Re: Nascar Old Days
I use to be a BIG NASCAR fan years ago, but over time it became more about the money than the racing!
I had season tickets to Bristol Motor Speedway.
I had a ticket for one race at Pocono and at Dover.
I went to a few other tracks to see the racing live over time.

I've held yearly tickets at Dover, Bristol and Richmond. I've also been to Rockingham, Texas and Pocono. It's been ten years or more since I've been to one and would not go now if given free tickets.

its all in the money now--I wouldn't pay for a ticket nowadays and in the old days I shelled out some bucks to go.
now spend the extra bucks on local dirt racing--my new passion!

Re: Nascar Old Days
I quit watching Nascar when the started the Stupid 12 car chase for the cup.
A guy could be in 12th for the first race, and come out 1st after the first race. How is that earning the Championship? The guy in first busted his *** to get first, and if has a bad race during the chase could be knocked out of contention. AS A FANS VIEW DUMBEST MOVE BY NASCAR EVER!!!!!!

No doubt...along with the 'Lucky Dog', 'Freeze the Field', excessive punishments, and a whole host of other annoying thingsSLINKMASTERC wrote:I quit watching Nascar when the started the Stupid 12 car chase for the cup.A guy could be in 12th for the first race, and come out 1st after the first race. Agreed. Televise more dirt track racing and they would get alot more viewers. Nascar has gotten to commercial and to I guess boring is a good word for me. I would rather watch any dirt track racing over Nascar.

I agree wholeheartedly. In my opinion, Darryl Waltrip, brother Mikey, Larry Mac, Kenny Wallace, and several others are driving fans away from the sport with their egos and over-hyping of the sport....extremely annoying. I miss the days of TNN coverage.

What sport doesn't start everybody at zero wins for the playoffs? RACING before NASCAR came up with the Chase.
