Inaugural Billy Kimmel Memorial Golf Tournament
April 16, 2008
Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania
As we begin another of sprint car racing, the NSCBBA and Beerhill Gang have concluded the planning of a “PA Posse” style golf tournament, for 2008. Pancho’s Racing Products, Coldren Motorsports, Tractor-N-Trailer Inc., and the Hollinger Group have graciously accepted roles as title sponsors for the inaugural event. This charitable, four-person scramble will be held at Silver Spring Golf Club. The course is located at 136 Sample Bridge Road, in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The fun will officially begin around 9:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 22nd, 2008. Most importantly, all proceeds will benefit the Billy Kimmel Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The 1st Annual Billy Kimmel Memorial Golf Tournament is being planned and hosted, in accordance with the Kimmel Family. Central Pennsylvania has a rich tradition of sprint car drivers and Billy Kimmel personified that tradition. Equally as rich in tradition, reputation, and class, Central PA boasts the greatest racing fans in the world. In typical “Posse” fashion, there has already been an outpouring of interest by golfers, sponsors, donors, and volunteers.
Keep in mind, only the first 144 players to sign up will be entered in the tournament. This year’s entry fee is $65 per person, or $260 per team. Printable entry forms are available at www.nscbba.org and www.beerhillgang.com. No invitations are required, simply signup in time and play. Teams are filling up quickly though, so do not delay in registering for this event. Each team will receive a deli-style lunch during the outing, as well as a hot dinner at the finish of the tournament. Also, there will be a number of door prizes and raffles that each participant is eligible to win, including golf equipment, golf apparel, race apparel, race memorabilia, etc.
Golfers will want to arrive between 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. for registration, the day of the outing. Each individual golfer will receive a complementary sleeve of balls with a special event logo. After a few brief announcements teams will report to their pre-designated tee boxes for a shotgun start around 9:00 a.m.
Despite the torrent of immediate support, currently hole sponsors and prize donations are still needed. If there is an interest in sponsoring or donating prizes to this event, please email tournament@nscbba.org or contact Silver Spring Golf Club, at 717-766-0462.
A full field of golfers is expected take part in this new event. The venue itself should be enough to draw a nice blend of novice, casual, and scratch golfers. Silver Spring Golf Club will also have its outside deck open to anyone who would like to attend, but not golf. All spectators are welcome to participate in the raffles and auctions that will be taking place at the conclusion of dinner. The Kimmel Family, NSCBBA, and Beerhill Gang cordially invite all to sign up for a day of fun, prizes, and camaraderie, all while contributing to a worthy cause.
