NEW SEATS IN PLACE FOR FEBRUARY 24 GROVE OPENER

MECHANICSBURG, PA -- Fans planning to attend the 2008 season opener
at Williams Grove Speedway on Sunday afternoon, February 24, will find a
new look for this historic race track.
The old wooden seats are gone.
Brand new aluminum seating is now in place for the main grandstands
on the front stretch, the backstretch and the third turn hill.
Some wooden bleachers in the backstretch pit area, on the third
turn hill and just off turn four remain, but fans who prefer an aluminum
seat should have no trouble finding one.
The new seating is just one of the improvements that will be in
evidence at the Grove this year.
At the conclusion of last season 461 tons of new clay were added to
the racing surface and should help make this venerable half-mile more
competitive than ever.
The Grove will be in action on Sunday afternoons through March 16,
but when night racing begins on Friday, March 21, new Musco lighting
will be in place.
"This stadium type lighting will brighten not only the racing
surface, but the infield as well," said general manager Justin Loh.
"Over the years Williams Grove has been recognized as one of the top
dirt tracks in the country and we feel these improvements were necessary
to continue the tradition of the speedway."
Loh also indicated that more improvements are planned for the future.
Williams Grove will present only sprint car racing  on February 24,
March 2, March 9 and March 16.
The 358 c.i. sprints and the super sportsman cars will be given an
opportunity to practice on March 16.
The 358s will be part of the Friday night card on March 21, and the
sportsman cars will headline the Saturday Night Series opener on March 29.
