FINAL SUNDAY AFTERNOON RACE MARCH 16 -- WEATHER PERMITTING!

MECHANICSBURG, PA -- The final Sunday afternoon race date of the
2008 season is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, March 16, at Williams
Grove Speedway.
Sprint car racing will be the sole attraction and the first
qualifying heat is scheduled to start at 2:00.
     Weather permitting.
Weather has not been conducive to Sunday afternoon racing at
Williams Grove in recent years, but both fans and competitors are hoping
the tide may have turned.
During the five year period from 2003 through 2007, only ten of the
25 scheduled Sunday afternoon race dates were completed.  That's an
average of just .250, and that's not very good.
In 2007 all four scheduled Sunday afternoon dates were lost to the
weather.  Cancellations this year on February 24 and March 2 pushed the
Grove's losing streak to six.
"We're overdue for a break from the weather, and we're hoping it
happens for our last Sunday afternoon race this week," said Justin Loh,
Williams Grove Speedway's general manager.
In addition to Sunday's sprint car racing, the speedway will be
open for practice for limited (358 c.i.) sprints and super sportsman
cars,  two of the divisions which will compete regularly at the Grove
throughout the season.
Williams Grove will switch to its Friday night schedule on March 21
and that will mark the first race of the season for the 358s, which will
share the pit area with the sprint cars.
Sprint car and late model racing is on tap for the final Friday of
March.
The Saturday Night Series begins on March 29 when the sportsman
cars headline a card which will also include limited late models, street
stocks and an enduro.
Friday night racing is scheduled to begin at 7:30  through April
before switching to 8:00 in May.
The Saturday Night Series events begin at 7:00.
