SPRINTS AND LATE MODELS ON MARCH 28
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- The late model stock cars will return to
Williams Grove Speedway on Friday evening, March 28, in a dual card
program also featuring sprint car racing.
The first heat is scheduled to start at 7:30.
Friday will mark the first of three appearances for the powerful
late models at the Grove this season.
Jason Covert, Rick Eckert and Gary Stuhler won the three late model
races run at Williams Grove in 2007.
Defending limited sprint champion Pat Cannon will make his second
start in a 410 sprint car on March 28.
Cannon plans to be at Williams Grove every Friday night this
season although defending his 358 championship will be a priority.
He will, however, be racing his brand new Highlands Tire 410
whenever there is no 358 race scheduled at Williams
Grove.
While the move up to 410s will be a learning experience for Cannon, he
is already a proven winner at Williams Grove Speedway.
Cannon, 29, of Etters, Pa., started in the super sportsman class at
age 16. By the time he left the division following the 2005 season he
had won six times at Williams Grove in the highly competitive sportsman
cars.
Since moving into the 358s he has notched eight Grove victories
along with the 2007 track championship.
Cannon's biggest win came in the 2006 URC-sanctioned 360 Nationals
when he scored an impressive victory over a strong field.
No driver has ever won in a sportsman, 358 and 410-powered sprint
car in the storied history of Williams Grove Speedway. This week Cannon
will begin his quest to become the first driver to win in all three of
the open wheel divisions that compete regularly at Williams Grove.
Cannon also expects to be back in a 410 on April 4 when the super
sportsman cars will join the sprint cars at 7:30.
