SATURDAY NIGHT SERIES BEGINS MARCH 29
MECHANISBURG, PA -- The Saturday Night Series begins its third
season at Williams Grove Speedway on March 29 at 7:00.
Super sportsman cars will be the featured attraction for this
week's four-division program, which will also include limited late
models, 4-cylinder stock cars and a 50-lap enduro.
The Saturday Night Series was begun in 2006 following the closing
of Silver Spring Speedway. Williams Grove has since become the new
Saturday night home for the fans and competitors who helped make Silver
Spring one of the area's most popular racing venues.
The super sportsman cars and limited late models will be part of
every Saturday Night Series event this year with the street stocks,
4-cylinders and enduro cars also scheduled to make frequent appearances.
Two-time defending champion Frankie Herr remains the man to beat in
the super sportsman class. The Carlisle veteran has won five sportsman
features at Williams Grove over the past two years to lead all drivers
in that department. But it has been his consistency that has allowed
him to win championships.
Herr has recorded a total of 21 top-five finishes at Williams Grove
over the past two seasons.
Although teenager Tyler Hershey won the limited late model
championship last year, Tyler Armstrong was the leading feature winner
with four victories.
Kory Sites is still the king of the street stock division with
seven wins and back-to-back championships over the past two years.
Seventeen Saturday Night Series events have been scheduled at
Williams Grove Speedway this season and the second is set for April 12.
Sutliff Cadillac, Hummer and Saturn will sponsor this year's
Sportsman Tour. A.J.'s Truck and Trailer Center and A.J.'s RV Rentals
will back the limited late models.
Other Saturday Night Series sponsors include L. B. Smith Ford
(street stocks) and Credit Connection Auto Sales (4-cylinder stock cars).
