WILLIAMS GROVE FAMILY MOURNS THE PASSING OF MORGAN HUGHES

MECHANICSBURG, PA -- Morgan Hughes, 88, owner/promoter of Williams
Grove Speedway, died Saturday at his home.
He had been at the speedway as recently as Friday evening prior to
the rainout.
Mr. Hughes was also the owner of Williams Grove Park, which he
operated for many years until his retirement from that business in 2006.
While various promoters had previously run the day-to-day
operations of his speedway, Mr.  Hughes had taken a more active role in
recent years and was responsible for many improvements including new
aluminum seats and a new lighting system.
Under his ownership Williams Grove remained one of the most famous
dirt tracks in the United States.
The Hughes family will continue to operate the speedway.  Racing
will continue on Friday night, April 18, and for the remainder of the
season.
A viewing for Mr. Hughes will be held on Wednesday, April 16, from
2-4 and 6-8 at the Cocklin Funeral Home, 30 North Chestnut Street,
Dillsburg, Pa.
