SATURDAY NIGHT GROVE COMPETITORS DUE FOR FAIR SKIES MAY
10
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- Fans and competitors of the Saturday Night
Series are due for a break in the weather and they're hoping it will
come May 10 at Williams Grove Speedway.
Only two Saturday Night Series events have been completed this
season with the most recent on April 12.
If the May 10 date should be lost, the next SNS event is not
scheduled until May 31, which would mean a seven-week gap between
races. With that in mind, the cars should be out in droves this week
provided the weather co-operates.
Once again the super sportsman division will be the featured
attraction and the season's first 40-car field is a distinct
possibility, since 38 were in competition on April 12.
While sportsman veterans such as defending Sutliff Auto Group
champion Frankie Herr, Rich Eichelberger and Carmen Perigo, Jr., are
still very competitive, rising stars Paul Miller and Mike Enders won the
first two races.
Although the sportsman cars are usually the only open cockpit
division in the pit area on Saturday nights, that will not be the case
this week, because the 305 sprints are also on the card. This is the
only scheduled appearance for that entry level sprint car class at
Williams Grove this season.
As usual the limited late models will be a big part of this week's
program and the street stocks will also return.
Autograph and Camera Night, rained out on May 3, has been
rescheduled for May 31, which will mark the first of five consecutive
Saturday night races at Williams Grove.
Saturday Night Series racing events begin at 7:00.
