Justin Henderson, Eric Tomecek, Pat Cannon, Carmen Perigo Jr. and Gene Knaub Win Williams Grove Speedway Fall Fest Features

Mechanicsburg, Pa.  October 23

Saturday night Williams Grove Speedway presented a busy night of racing.  The annual Fall Fest show highlighted the 410 Sprint Cars, the 358 Sprint Cars, along with the Super Sportsman and the 358 Late Models.

Brain Leppo started on the pole for the 25-lap Lawrence Chevrolet 410 Sprint Car feature.  Leppo took over the lead with Daryn Pittman racing in second.  Justin Henderson, the fourth place starter, then wrestled second place from Pittman.

Justin Henderson, from Indianapolis, Indiana, made his bid for the lead.  On the sixth lap Henderson gained the lead with a fourth turn pass.  The lead duo of Henderson and Leppo encountered lapped traffic.  Using the slower cars, Henderson was able to gain a 12-length edge.

Henderson's comfortable lead was lost with a lap 20 caution.  Following the restart Henderson drove away from the field.  Henderson propelled the Sorokach No. 35 to his second victory.  Daryn Pittman finished in second with Steve Buckwalter, Fred Rahmer and Greg Hodnett trailing.

The American Ceramic Tiles 358 Sprint Cars had two features.  In the first 20-lap feature, Eric Tomecek used his second starting position to take over the lead.  Tomecek maintained his lead through the race.  In the late stages of the race, the car driven by Pat Cannon caught the leader.

The final lap found Cannon making a bid for the lead.  In the final turns, Cannon was almost even with the leader.  Tomecek, from Abbottstown, won the race to the finish line.  Tomecek recorded his first Williams Grove Speedway victory of 2011 in front of Cannon, Davie Franek, Rodney Westhafer and Rich Eichelberger.

Pat Cannon gained enough points to win the 2011 Williams Grove Speedway 358 Sprint Car point title.

Davie Franek led the early laps of the second 358 Sprint Car main.  Pat Cannon began the event in eighth place and quickly advanced to second.  In the fifth lap, Cannon made his winning pass on the backstretch.

During the race the Cannon car developed right side wing trouble.  Despite the problem, the New Cumberland-area driver easily won the feature.  His fourth win of the season was over Franek, Scott Geesey, Chad Trout and Nate Hammaker.

Mike Enders was on the pole for the start of the 20-lap Blazer's Body Shop Super Sportsman feature.  On the opening lap the left side of the wing on the Enders car collapsed.  On the third circuit Paul Miller slipped by Enders to become the new leader.

Carmen Perigo Jr. was the ninth place starter.  Using an outside lane, Perigo sliced his way through the pack.  The 13th lap found Pergio taking over the lead at the exit of turn four.  Miller rebound to challenge for the lead with two laps to go.  On the final lap, Miller pulled even with Perigo.  At the finish line, Perigo, from Stoystown, captured his first Williams Grove Speedway win of 2011 by a slim margin over Miller.  Rick Barr finished third with Jay Fannasy in fourth and Frankie Herr took fifth.

The final feature was the 20-lap Tattooed Mom's 358 Late Model race.  John Ebersole started on the pole and quickly opened up a large lead.  Steve Clabaugh held second place.  Gene Knaub, the 12th placer starter, took over third.  Clabaugh and Knaub had a close fight for second.

Once Gene Knaub passed Clabaugh for second, Knaub quickly caught leader John Ebersole.  Knaub's winning pass came on lap 14.  Once in front Knaub left the field behind.  The Dover resident won his 19th race of the year by a straightaway over Ebersole, Clabaugh, Wes Alleman and Grant Adams.

This is the final 2011 show at Williams Grove Speedway.  The management of Williams Grove Speedway thanks all the race teams and fans for their support.  On Saturday, November 12, the Williams Grove Speedway Awards Banquet will take place at the Radisson Penn Harris Convention Center in Camp Hill, Pa.  Tickets are now on sale at 717 - 697 - 5000.
